Harapnya kajian yang lebih terperinci perlu dilakukan untuk mengurangkan kadar kemalangan di Malaysia.

By definition, single-vehicle accidents involve just one car, lorry, motorcycle, or other types of motor vehicle. However, the police study did not provide a breakdown based on the type of vehicles involved.

The study further showed that negligent driving while exiting or coming into a junction recorded the second-highest number with 6,590 deaths.

According to the police, other road behaviour which resulted in deaths were overtaking (6,560); collisions due to not noticing a head-on obstruction such as a vehicle, object or animal (6,336); U-turns (2,570), driving against the flow of traffic (1,731); beating traffic lights (1,398); and falling asleep on the wheel (1,305).

During the same period, a total of 1,990 pedestrians were also killed due to negligence.
